The name should be in English or other European Languages
with the meaning "over the top", "above the mountain-top", etc.
The name no need to be commonly use, but no self-created name please.

Bonus may be awarded to wonderful suggestion.

Hi Jimeoin,

Perhaps you can provide your surname so that researchers can see if
the first name they're giving will sound great with it.

Not quite what you want, but how about "Rangi"?
This is a New Zealand Maori name - Rangi is the God of the sky, a very
powerful figure in Maori mythology.

Behind The Name is the best first name resource I've seen online. Here
are some searches which you may wish to browse through:

Mountain
http://www.behindthename.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?terms=mountain&nmd=m&gender=both&operator=or

Hill
http://www.behindthename.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?terms=hill&nmd=m&gender=both&operator=or

The closest to your request that I could find is Paden:

PADEN m English
Either a pet form of PATRICK or else from a surname meaning "path
hill" in Old English.

Not fairly common, and not really exactly what you requested, but has
a nice ring to it -

Pendleton
"The summit of the hill, Gaelic, from pendle, the summit, and dun, a
hill. Pen-dal-ton, the town at the head of the valley."

cima
acima
peak
riser
zenith

you might want to give him a regular name, then
a cute nickname, so if later in life he wants to
go by his new one he can. could also name him
after someone who climb everest or a famous
explorer.

I have never seen "Everest" used as a first name, but I think it has a
nice, manly ring to it.

Wow Pink!

As one child I know said, "Stop copying my brain!" I just came to this
question to post that same suggestion. Everest. I like it a lot.

Ok.. I'll go with my second choice -- Sky ---

How about the name of a volcano?

Cotopaxi

The word Cotopaxi comes from the Cayapa dialect and breaks
down to Coto, meaning neck; pag, from pagta, meaning sun;
and si, from shi, meaning sweet: "Sweet neck of the sun".

How about ... Ben!

Ben means son in Hebrew, and also means peak (or mountain) in Gaelic.

"Summit" is listed in this baby name database:

While I can't recall ever meeting a man named "Summit," it sounds good to me.

Tarn.

I worked at a library, a student gave me his ID card to check out a
book, and his first name was Tarn. I loved that name! He said it was
Danish and meant mountain. (And, yeah, I found it in the dictionary.)

I'm at the circ desk talking about how cool it was and everyone else
there was agreeing. Indeed, the staff was talking about it later. It
was masculine. Unique. Powerful. Individual. Distinctive. And I've
remembered it for 15 years!

He said his parents had wanted to give him a unique, powerful name,
that he had never come across anyone (even in literature) with his
name, and that he really, really liked it...both the name and its
being unusual. My name is not common either and I love that fact, so
I understood what he meant.

OK...so it doesn't mean 'over the top', but since I love it so much
and it means 'mountain' I figured it was close enough. And maybe your
son would be only the second guy in the world named that :-)

I would suggest "Keanu" (cool wind over a mountain/Hawaiian) but he
might grow up and drive a bus someday.

Could resist - you work at the circ. desk?
A "tarn" is a small mountain lake.
A "cirque" is a half-open hollow at the head of a mountain valley - a wannabe tarn!

Tarn doesn't mean mountain, it actually doesn't mean anyhing in
danish, however the word tårn (the a has a small ring above it) means
tower.
