Researchers are not permitted to help people find peraonl information
about living people. There is, however a public database that will
give you some very limited information using a social security number
but it won't reveal the person's whereabouts. It will only tell you
where the card was issued. Would you like me to give this to you as an
answer?

In addition, it may also tell you whether the person has since died
(but the lack of a search result does not necessarily indicate that
the person is still living - if that makes sense).

Whatever you do, DO NOT post the SSN here.

Thanks,

To tutuzdad-ga, I thought maybe there were state or gov't. sites
where a social security # would be useful. Yes, whatever info you
have can be the answer to my question. Thanx, cinra

Dear cinra-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question.

Unfortunately, a social security number doesn’t normally lead to much
valuable information, at least not in the free information realm. Here
are some things you can do with it though:

Here is the SOCIAL SECURITY DEATH INDEX database. If the person you
are looking for has died and anyone has filed the information with the
Social Security Administration, it MAY be indicated here.

Keep in mind that just because the database does not indicate that the
person has died, this doesn’t necessarily mean the person is still
living (and visa versa). Even the best databases can be incomplete or
being in their data. You can read more about this here:

and here…

This is the list of SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER ALLOCATIONS. Compare your
number to these prefixes to find out what state the number was
originally issued from:

There are a number of fee-based services, like LOST PEOPLE and BEST
PEOPLE SEARCH, which offer to search for someone for a fee. You must
be careful with services that make these offers because some are not
as competent as others (I cannot vouch for or discredit any of these
examples):

Below you will find that I have carefully defined my search strategy
for you in the event that you need to search for more information. By
following the same type of searches that I did you may be able to
enhance the research I have provided even further. I hope you find
that that my research exceeds your expectations. If you have any
questions about my research please post a clarification request prior
to rating the answer. Otherwise, I welcome your rating and your final
comments and I look forward to working with you again in the near
future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.

Best regards;
Tutuzdad-ga
