Hi there codymorgan!

Do you need instructions for a computer which already has data on it,
or will you be installing these operating systems on a blank hard
disk?

Thanks,

What about partitioning the hard drive's do you know any software to do that?

Partition Magic seems to be the most widely used. I've never used it myself though.

Welcome to linux, codymorgan

Partition Magic is indeed used a lot to repartition the disk,
but if you use a modern distribution of linux, you do not
need any extra software. It will shrink the window partition,
partition rest for linux, install linux, abd set up the dual boot.

All you need to do is place cdrom disk into the drive, reboot and answer
few easy questions, (like what language you want to use).

I have done that recently with Mandrake 9.0
http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en/

but other distrubutions to the same thing.

Current Mandrake is 9.1.
Version 7.2 is quite old and less easy to install.

For overview of distributions and IMPORTANT for hardware
requirements, you may want to check the following HOWTO:
