I believe the tulip you are looking for is actually "Tulipa
Sprengeri."

Locating this information was an interesting quest. Nothing related to
tulips was found when I searched using the keyword "sprengen." I tried
several Google searches using terms such as "tulips" + "botanical
names" and "tulips" + "scientific names," and didn't find anything
useful. Then I ran a search using the keyphrase "genus tulipa," which
led me to this page:

Plants Database
http://plantsdatabase.com/b/Liliaceae/Tulipa/

Aha. When I tiptoed through these tulips, I came upon "Tulipa
Sprengeri," which is so close to "Tulipa Sprengen" that I am confident
it is what you need.

Here you will find a color photo of the tulip in question:

The Beth Chatto Gardens of Unusual Plants

And here (with the help of the excellent botanical website
Plantkingdom.com) is a breakdown of kingdom, phylum, class, order,
family, genus and species:

Kingdom: Plantae
Phylum: Magnoliophyta
Class: Liliopsida
Order: Liliales
Family: Liliaceae
Genus: Tulipa
Species: Sprengeri

If anything I've said is in need of explanation, or if any of the
links do not function, please request clarification before rating my
answer, and I'll gladly offer further assistance.
