The engine on my 1994 Buick LeSabre accelerates periodically without depressing the accelator. This problem happened once previously, so it must be a problem experienced by others who own this type of auto. Any suggestions about how to solve this problem would be appreciated. |

Take your car to Autozone or a similarly well known parts house and ask them to hook up their diagnostic machine to your car. This is usually free, or at most inexpensive. Must later model Buicks also have an onboard diagnostic check that can be done simply by switching the key on and off a certain number of times and watching the engine light flash. Four flashes mean one thing, five flashes mean another, and so on. They can compare this against the manufacturer's trouble code book and tell you what is wrong. Normally they don't mind doing this because they hhope you will buy your parts from them once they tell you what is wrong. My guess is that you have a sensor going bad that governs either the accelerator or the transmission. This is a very inexpensive replacement part and the attendant at the parts store can tell you how to replace it. You'll probably walk out of there with a do-it-yourself solution for under $20 whereas a mechanic might gouge you for about a hundred bucks for the same job. Good luck; tutuzdad-ga |
