How topical!

Shane Warne, the Aussie cricketer, tested positive and has now been
banned for 12 months ... subject to appeal.

At the Sydney Olympics the several Bulgarian wegihtlifters were
striped of their medals because they tested positive for diuretics.
The entire Bulgarian weightlifting team was then thrown out of the
Sydney Olympics.

Thanks for your comment.

i have received good responses from several other questions asked.

Baseball has no drugs policy and is now only introducing a drugs
policy against steroids only.the NHL has no drugs policy.

The olympic ban of 2 years isn't relevant with professional sports as
Olympics are held every 4 years.

i believe The USADA allows 2 refusals for urine tests before 1 3rd
results is prosicution.

And even the olympic movement refuses to have blood tests(except for
EPO).

a point that has been lost is that diuretics can kill .

I almost misunderstood your question and posted this as an answer.
Luckily I reread it. I was not able to find specific policies but only
news reports so I am just posting it as a comment.

The cases I found are the following:

2000 Sydney Olympics

Ivan Ivanov – Bulgaria (Weightlifter)

“The International Olympic Committee said today (Tuesday night ET)
that it had stripped the silver medal in the 56-kilogram weightlifting
class from Ivan Ivanov, who tested positive for a diuretic.”

-----------
Sydney 2000 Paralympics

Radko Radev - Bulgaria (Weightlifter)
Marina Diakonova – Russia (Weightlifter)

Penalty – Four year suspensions

“The four-year suspensions will extend beyond the 2004 Paralympics.
Two lifters tested positive for anabolic steroids, Berbec for
Stanozolol and Mahmoudkikordkheili for Methandienone, while Diakonova
and Radev returned positive samples for banned diuretics.”

-----------
Professional Soccer:

Daniel Kennedy – Portugal Player

“Portuguese midfielder Daniel Kenedy was dropped from the World Cup
finals squad Wednesday after failing a drug test. “

“The 28-year-old uncapped Maritimo star tested positive for the banned
diuretic furosemide, which can be used to mask other substances, on
May 14 prior to the squad's departure for their pre-finals training
base in Macau.”

-----------
Professional Cricket:

Shane Warne – Australia

“Australian Cricket Board chief executive James Sutherland
acknowledges that Warne broke anti-doping rules by taking banned
diuretics but has condemned critics who've branded the nation's
leading test and limited-overs wicket taker a drug cheat.”

“The 33-year-old legspinner claimed he'd unwittingly taken the
diuretics contained in a "fluid pill" his mother had given him so he'd
look good for TV cameras when he announced his retirement from
limited-overs cricket on Jan. 22.’

The case of Shane Warne is putting the dangers of diuretics in the
spotlight. As you said it can cause death when it leads to a fatal
kidney or heart failure.

In case you would like to know, the following article enumerates the
types of substances banned per sports event or league. The sports
organizations mentioned here are the IOC, NBA, MLB, US NCAA, NFL and
NHL. Only the IOC, NFL, US NCAA and the NHL ban diuretics.

the history of drug testing in sports in a 3 part series of articles.
