I am looking for a software package (freeware is best!) that I can RUN
(I would like to not install anything) on a workstation (not server)
that will ping a range of IP addresses and show me info about each
workstation within the given range. I am looking for the USER LOGGED
ON TO EACH IP ADDRESS at that time (history would be nice as well) as
a key feature. Other info about the workstation is good , but I am
looking for the USER info based on what the server allowed on the
domain.

This is a basic windows-TCP/IP type network. NT sever with Win98
workstations logging on to the domain. I do NOT need to scan a very
wide range of IP addresses, just a range in the last set, like 31-119
of 192.168.10.xxx.

Hi JFR,

Well, I'm not able to 'answer' the question because I'm not a
researcher, so I guess this is a freebie.

Check out Angry IP Scanner at http://www.angryziber.com/ipscan/.

It can do what you ask and is one of the fastest scanners I've worked
with.

Good luck,
Vance
