Hi, I recently submitted my website: www.italyselect.com.
However, when I search for "italyselect" the following result appears:
www.italyselect.com/TariffFrame.htm
Can you please tell me why the home page does not appear in the
results. The home page is www.italyselect.com/index.htm and contains
the meta keywords.
Thanks

Hello Laura,

What is of importance to a search engine is the actual text content.
Since your cover page does only include meta-data, it is practically
ignored.
My advice:

---- 1. Do not use a cover page at all, but jump right to the
introduction -- make it your new "cover page" and include the complete
introduction text. Make sure you have all important keywords in page
title and content.

Tags

"Many people incorrectly believe that good meta tags are all that is
needed to achieve good listings in the search engines, which is
entirely incorrect. While meta tags are usually always part of a well
optimized page they are not the be all and end all of optimizing your
pages. In the early days of the web people were able to get great
listings from optimizing just their meta tags, but the increasing
competition for good search engine listings eventually led to many
people spamming the search engines with keyword stuffed meta tags. The
result is that the engines have changed what they look at when they
rank a web page."

---- 2. Avoid frames. One alternative solution is to copy your
navigation to all the other pages as well.

Site Promotion - Search Engines, Part 2 - Frames
http://www.thewebforbusiness.com/articles/promotion/frames-and-search-engins.shtml
"When possible, avoid the use of frames. They add complication and can
hinder your search engine visibility."

---- 3. When you include an image containing text, like on your
current cover page, include appropriate alternative text.

"Every step that you take towards text-mode accessibility is also a
step towards being friendly to those indexing robots"

Note that changes you make now take some time to be noticed by search
engines. Please be patient and do not resubmit your website, as this
will not speed up the process.

Hope it helps!
