Greetings Nancya:
There are several sources available to locate veterans and I am not
able to provide personal information on your father's friends due to
Google Answers guidelines (nor do I possess any). I'm assuming you
have already typed in his friend's names with the city and/or state to
see what resulted in the search engines.
Also, I used different spellings of Plattsburgh including Platsburg
and Plattsburg in my searches. Because Miller hails from a town that
includes his name, there may be other Millers in that area who will
know of the Robert your father seeks. You may want to contact a few
Millers in Millersville if you haven't already done so or the public
library - always a good source for information.
Millersville is located in Ann Arundel county and site for the public
library is located at http://web.aacpl.lib.md.us/ - the "Ask A
Librarian" link is http://www.aacpl.net/ask_a_librarian/
VetFriends at http://www.vetfriends.com offers a membership whereby
one may search for service buddies. There is a free membership and
two additional membership levels that require a fee. "The cost to
become a Gold member is $14.95 for one year or a Platinum member is
$22.50 for two years." The page at
http://www.vetfriends.com/memberships.html explains the membership
criteria and the membership sign-up form is located at
http://www.vetfriends.com/new_member/index.cfm
A visitors log, made public on the web, lists people that served in
various AF positions that seem to be looking for others as well. The
list is located at http://www.afnoa.org/visitors_log.html - I found
"Devlin, John F. (Jack)" that seemed to be around the correct year
your father mentioned and an email was present in his listing. I also
located a "Wilson, Lee, Harlingen" and a man, "Welch, Harry" - he
listed that he was at Plattsburg in '56. "Peck, Vincent Bruce" listed
Plattsburg (no date) and "William E. Parrish" was class of '53 and he
mentioned Plattsburg so he might have been there around that time.
Also, note "Ted Graser". One of these people, particulary Harry
Welch, may be able to be of help. All of the listings on the page
contain email addresses. Networking will prove to be a good source of
information.
USAF.com at http://www.usaf.com/index2.htm offers a link to "Looking
for Friends/Buddies Units" - your father may want to post there with
his friend's names and someone might see them and have information.
They offer a free email there, too, and your father could sign up for
it and use it for all his contact posts. That way, his regular email
(or yours) would remain private on the web. The sign-up page for the
free email begins at http://themail.usaf.com/termsofuse.htm
MilitaryUSA at http://www.militaryusa.com/ offers veteran databases
links at http://www.militaryusa.com/databases.html - to join free,
visit http://www.militaryusa.com/joinmusa.html
They also have a link to the Korean War Project at
http://www.koreanwar.org/index1.html that includes a "Looking For"
link and a "Guestbook" link. Another link MilitaryUSA offers is a
Vietnam veterans database and one must sign-up to access it. You may
also search for and register for reunions at MilitaryUSA.
At http://www.b-47.com/Guest%20Book.htm I found entries that reflected
1957. Your father may want to leave a message there, too.
I turned up a few message boards (see results at
://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=USAF+veteran+message+boards)
by using the keyphrase "USAF veteran message boards" (quotes not used
during search). Have your father write out his text for a message and
then post the same on each message board. It may require a lot of
joining boards but it could pay off for him. Get that free USAF.com
email before posting to use in the posts. He can use that account
solely for his posts.
I hope the source suggestions I have located will result in your
father finding his friends. Should you need any clarification of any
information I have provided, please request it and I'll be happy to
respond.
