Need to import part information from an ascii file into MAS 90 ERP system using a program script. Part information is written out to an ascii file from a PDM (product data management system). First time dealing with the MAS 90 ERP system. Could some one please explain with the help of a pseudo code how to accomplish this. An actual script would make my life easier. |

Hi, Unless things have drastically changed in the last two years, this is not an easy thing to do. There is a function set in the program that is "advertised" to work, and gives some instructions, but I never found it to work properly or consistently. I did a major conversion into MAS90 about two years ago, and even with 10 years experience in database and conversions, I was scratching my head more than getting anything done. My advice, is, if you have a huge amount of data that has to go in, then hire a MAS90 professional to make the conversion. If at all possible, and I mean this, If you can leave the existing system running for historic data and start your MAS90 from scratch, I would do that. It may be a bit of a hassle, but it will probably not equal the hassle and missing data problems of a conversion. Another thing you may want to keep in mind as well, getting your information back out is even more difficult. webadept-ga |
