Hello Swiftnick-ga,

Thank you for your question.

Given that you mention that the breed of sheep/goat “is called
Dagileth or something similar” I did a manual search at the Department
of Animal Breeding and Genetics, School of Veterinary Medicine of
Hannover in their Animal Genetic Data Bank listing of breeds by
country. There is one result which I believe is the breed you are
seeking. If by any chance you feel that this information is inaccurate
please let me know in order to do further research.

There are 517 breeds of sheep considered in the list of breeds in the
EAAP- Animal Genetic Data Bank by country.

Here is another description of this breed:

“The Dagliç are one of the short-fat tailed breeds found in western
Anatolia in Turkey. They are a carpet wool breed used for both meat
and dairy production. The breed typically has black spots on the head
and legs, the rams are usually horned and the ewes are polled. The
breed is thought by some to be the origin of the Chios and Kamakuyruk
breeds.”

Absolutely gobsmacked. A mine of information. Not the name I was
looking for but Daglic or Dragobie will do fine. I am writing a book
and I found an unusual name of a type of sheep/goat when I was
trawling through the dictionary but could not find it again when I
looked so memory might be at fault. Many many thanks.
