Greetings Rr3225:
I located a one-stop source for locating film editors - the Motion
Picture Editors Guild (http://www.editorsguild.com) member search.
It's located at http://www.editorsguild.com/DirectorySearch.asp and I
simply chose one field in the form - under "Classification" I chose
"Picture Editor" and hit the Search button. It returned a long list
of member names. There are other fields including "Category" and
"Award" - you can play with the site search engine for various
results.
Clicking on the members' links produced only a minimun of information,
so I executed a web search with one of the names at random. I placed
it in quotation marks - "Ron Cabreros" - and found his online resume
at http://www.angelfire.com/empire/teknomage/resume.html. Searching
from the Motion Picture Editor member list should be a good source for
you.
Also, you might consider placing an ad query at Playback
(http://www.playbackmag.com/careers/) and you might also want to
conact ACE (American Cinema Editors) at
http://www.ace-filmeditors.org/educate.htm
To locate the resumes of persons citing film and/or video editing in
their experience, I searched the following keyphrases:
"film editor" resume
"video editor" resume
and the search returned many listings. See
://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=%22film+editor%22+resume
[Ron Cabreros also came up in this list] and
://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=%22video+editor%22+resume
to peruse the results. I saw what appeared to be both amateurs and
professionals in both of those lists.
The California Employment Cevelopment Department at
http://www.calmis.cahwnet.gov/file/occguide/Filmedtr.htm gave a list
of film organizations including the Motion Picture Editors Guild and
the text there read in part "Most Film and Video Editors belong to the
Motion Picture and Videotape Editors Guild of the International
Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), while others in the
television industry are affiliated with the National Association of
Broadcast Employees and Technicians (NABET), the International
Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), or are covered by an
industrial union agreement":
