Does anyone know where I can get a later version of disk doubler for
macintosh. I have 3.7.4. I need the latest version possible. I think
it's a free download now?

Do you have a copy of StuffIt Deluxe that you can run on the mac in
question? StuffIt Deluxe 5.5+ (and I think StuffIt Expander) can
expand DiskDoubler files. You may also be able to compress to .DD
with Deluxe.

Thanks for this idea leep. For some reason stuffit crashes my mac. I
don't want to compress the files, just read four that i've got.

Do you need to open old Disk Doubler files? Or do you need to make new archives too?

Sorry about that last clarification request. I should read more
carefully. I've located a later version of the utility that opens Disk
Doubler files. It's available as a free download. The file ends in
.hqx . Will you be able to decompress a file like that?

Hello.

Since you don't need to compress new files, what you need is
DiskDoubler Expand, a utility for opening files compressed by
DiskDoubler.

DiskDoubler Expand 4.0 is available as a free download from the
Hyperarchive at MIT.edu via this link:
http://hyperarchive.lcs.mit.edu/HyperArchive/Archive/cmp/dd-expand-40.hqx

I've downloaded and tested the program. It works. The software
indicates: "This version of DiskDoubler decompresses all DiskDoubler
and AutoDoubler files... Version 4.0"

Also see this description from the abstract of the file:
"This is a self-extracting archive of the free DDExpand utility used
to
expand files compressed by AutoDoubler and DiskDoubler. The new
version is
required to expand files/archives compressed by DiskDoubler 4.0."
Source: DiskDoubler 4.0 abstract, hosted by Hyperarchive at MIT.edu:
http://hyperarchive.lcs.mit.edu/HyperArchive/Abstracts/cmp/dd-expand-40.hqx.txt

search strategy: diskdoubler, mac, download

I hope this helps. If anything is unclear, or you have any additional
questions, please use the "request clarification" feature. Thanks.
