1. D, pinging the remote host is the fourth step, assuming that the
remote host is outside the local subnet.

2. A and C; all data passing through the local machine's network card
is captured.

3. IP, ICMP, ARP and IGMP are all protocols in the Internet layer of
TCP/IP.
