The proposal was promoted by an organization called Forward Thrust.
It was actually a plan for a transit system that would have included
rail rapid transit and bus routes. In February 1968, a majority of
voters in King County voted in favor of each of the pieces of the
proposal; however, since some of the components did not receive the
necessary 60 percent of the vote, the plan was defeated. A revised
proposal was defeated in May 1970.
