My 3 year lease on a 4 door Cadillac Deville is up in about 3 months
from now.
I am thinking about getting another Deville 4 door or perhaps an
Escalade.

I never drove and Escalade.
I would like to know about the 2003 Escalades ride in
comparison with the 2003 Deville’s ride. Also, any differences
between the 2003 Cadillac Escalade and the 2003 Escalade EXT.
Differences such as size, weight, ride, etc.

Dear clicker5-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question.

I found a really informative review and comparison site that provides
the information you are looking for. Let’s talk first about the 2003
Cadillac Escalade and the 2003 Escalade EXT.

The 2003 Escalade is a luxury AWD 4dr SUV (6.0L 8cyl 4A) rings in at a
very high 9.2 rating among users on a scale of 1 to 10. Some of the
positive comments are:

“The look is sharp and the engine is so dang powerful it's scary”

“I have driven every big SUV out there, and this caddy is the best
ride of all.”

“I traded a BMW X-5 on the Cadillac Escalade and it is one of my best
decisions ever. The Escalade is a far superior vehicle. It rides so
much better that it is not even close.”

While most every rater praised the ride, the handling and the power,
many of them complained about the fuel efficiency. One said that it,
“Eats gas like King Kong eats bananas”.

The 2003 Escalade EXT is a luxury 4dr Crew Cab AWD (6.0L 8cyl 4A). It
appears to be very highly rated among users. On this site, it rates an
astounding 9.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. But keep in mind that ratings
are relative to the number of ratings in a given poll. Not near as
many rated this vehicle, which may account for the somewhat higher
rating. Here are some comments by raters:

“The power is awesome! This baby really moves! The comfort is the
best!”

“…the monster under the hood is out of this world…345 horsepower V8,
that sounds great.”

“The rating system here doesn't do this truck justice. It definitely
deserves a rating higher than 10. This vehicle is in a league of its
own.”

On the down side, raters mention that it is “bulky”, and “bad on gas”,
but of course, anyone who has ever owned a Cadillac (especially a
Cadillac SUV) already knows this.

Another option that you didn’t mention is the 2003 Escalade ESV. It is
also a AWD 4dr SUV (6.0L 8cyl 4A). Only four people registered a
review but half of them rated it a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10, bringing
it’s overall rating on this site to an incredible 9.7. Here is what
some had to say:

“A Cadallac Escalade is the best car I've ever had”

“Favorite Features: everything!!”

“powerful yet quiet, roomy yet very maneuverable”

“My Last car was the 2003 Lincoln Navigator which doesn’t even come
close to my Escalade in every aspect. The Navigator's price quickly
jumps up when you add pointless features and on the other hand the ESV
has all the options that you need in the base price. My Cadillac
Escalade has the most powerful V8's on the market at an amazing 345
hp! Overall The Escalade is the best SUV that ever came out!”

Only one rater on this site complained about the fuel efficiency.

Now as for the DeVille (4dr Sedan, DHS 4dr Sedan and the DTS 4dr
Sedan, all of which are 4.6L 8cyl 4A) a comparison attempt with
Escalade appears to be apples and oranges. While most raters thought
highly of the car (8.4 overall), they didn’t seem nearly as excited
about it as the Escalade raters were about their choice. Surprisingly,
even some of the positive raters complained about various mechanical
problems and other unfortunate experiences like noise at high speed or
on bumpy terrain. Here is what some of them said about the ride:

“Nice car to drive, very stable on the road specially in bumpy road as
in NY. The DTS is exceptionally has good ride”

“…great ride, excellent performance and road holding ability in snow,
rain and icy weather conditions”

“It's also one of the most comfortable vehicles I've ever driven”

It seemed that the looks and the accessories were a more important
tradeoff among raters, who were willing, perhaps, to tolerate some
irritations in order to have the subtle luxuries that this vehicle
provides.

As for the differences between the Escalade, the EXT and the ESV, you
can read all about them in this buying guide. Here you will find the

Hi Clicker5 --

I just checked Consumer Reports online to see what they have to say.
Unfortunately, only the 2003 Deville has been reviewed, but not either
of the Escalades. Sorry.
