Several weeks ago, I heard a story on the radio (don't recall the station) while driving on Long Island, NY talking about a training and hiring program initiated by the US Government. The matter had to do with IT profesionals who wish to change careers and who are being trained in several Universities across the US in methods of protecting web-sites and Networks of the Government. 1. I need a reference to the actual radio story and to the transcript. 2. I need a point of contact to the specific government program (not just general office of the government) 3. any other information - such as the actual universities qualified to train the candidates under this program. | |

According to an article by Patience Wait in the Washington Technology (3/18/02), the National Security Agency "named 13 universities and recertified another seven institutions as Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education." http://www.washingtontechnology.com/news/1_1/security/18000-1.html Three of the universities named are in New York: SUNY Buffalo, SUNY Stony Brook, and Polytechnic New York. This may explain why your Long Island radio station was reporting this For more information about the NSA program which does involve scholarships and emphasizes network security, visit: http://www.nsa.gov/isso/programs/nietp/newspg1.htm Google search terms: universities federal information training program ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&q=universities+federal+information+training+program&btnG=Google+Search I hope this helps. Good luck. |
