Not one of these sites is a SUPPLIER of polished turquoise stones.
these are all retail jewelry stores selling semi-precious stones, not
wholesalers and none have polished turquoise stones. Try again!

For more suppliers, you might consider contacting the organizers of
Malaysia's biggest jewelry fair: the Malaysia International Jewelex
2002, which will be held at Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia on October 14- 16, 2002. For more information visit:
&lt;a href=&quot;<a href="http://www.hka.com.hk/new-8-MIJ.htm">http://www.hka.com.hk/new-8-MIJ.htm</a>&quot;&gt;<a href="http://www.hka.com.hk/new-8-MIJ.htm">http://www.hka.com.hk/new-8-MIJ.htm</a>&lt;/a&gt;
Please note that Teknobutra SDN BHD above is identified as an
&amp;quot;exporter of gem stones,&amp;quot; not a retail jeweler.
Additionally, K. L. CENTRAL SERVICES SDN BHD is identified on the web
site above as a &amp;quot;supplier&amp;quot; of gems and jewelry. And, while the first
two listed are indeed retailer jewelers, please consider that a
jeweler that uses and sells polished turquoise stones may indeed be
able to supply them to you directly or refer you to their
sources/suppliers.
Reason this answer was rejected by icaru-ga:
All of the links and listing supplied by researcher are for either
finished gold jewelry or precious cut gemstones such as diamonds,
sapphires, rubies, emeralds, opals, pearls, etc. Not one single
wholesaler of semi-precious stones. Polished turquoise is sold by
wholesalers usually selling semi-precious beads. Rarely do these
dealers also sell gemstones, never do they sell gold or finished
jewelry.

Only a person in the business can answer this question and supply
addresses of exporters of currently popular polished turquoise
semi-precious stones, otherwise called 'nuggets'.

The following answer was rejected by the asker (they received a refund for the question).

Question: I would like to find several addresses of MALAYSIAN
suppliers -- only Malaysian -- of polished turquoise semi-precious
stones.

Answer: In response to one of the comments to this question, you
indicated that jewelry stores were higher up the supply chain than you
were interested in. If I took “supplier” to mean the ultimate
source, I would provide you contact information from Malaysian mining
companies which mine and sell turquoise and other semi-precious gems.
However, since you specifically asked about “polished turquoise
semi-precious stones,” that means at least one step up from the mining
companies, because mining companies sell raw minerals, not polished
stones. But, just in case you are interested, I will provide a link
here to the Malaysian Chamber of Mines, which has statistics posted on
mineral production, import/export figures, and related links. The rest
of my information will center on suppliers and distributors.

Malaysian Chamber of Mines:

Probably some larger jewelry retails buy direct from the mining
companies, although I’m sure there are many wholesalers acting as
middlemen between the mining companies and the retail jewelers.

The following company is definitely a Malatysian supplier of polished
turquoise:

Teknobutra SDN BHD:

Good luck in continuing with your inquiries. Please do not to hesitate
to ask for further clarification. Thanks for using Google Answers!
Reason this answer was rejected by icaru-ga:
All of the answers come from people not in the business and refer
either to retail jewelers or wholesale suppliers of gemstones.
Gemstone suppliers sell small, cut stones for jewelry settings. This
is not at all the same thing as wholesalers of semi-precious stones.
Some of the answers refer to non-public trade sites where only Asian
businesses can enter.

A list of Malaysian jewelry and gemstone suppliers/wholesalers can be
found at
Jewellery Net Asia - http://www.jewellerynetasia.com
"Asia's Leading Online Network for the Jewellery and Gem Trade
Community"
in their Trade Directory for Malaysia
http://app.jewellerynetasia.com/jna/directory/companies.jsp?compname=&country=128&maincat=J&maincat=G&maincat=D

You will have to go down the list and click on each company's name to
find out what they wholesale (look for the term "Gemstone - Polished
trader")
You will probably have to contact the company directly for a list of
specific products they supply,
(Although the information may be available to you if become a Member
(MEMBERSHIP IS FREE), there were many pages I could not get in to
because I am not a member)
Some of the companies that have "Gemstone - Polished trader" listed
under their "business nature" heading are:

Gem Mines Sdn Bhd
LGF 029, BB Plaza, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Contact person: Mr Mohamed Shajahan, Managing Director
Telephone: 60 - 60 3 2430481
Facsimile: 60 - 60 3 2430482

Contact person: Mr Basheer Ahamed, Manager

Jay Gems (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd

Telephone: 60 - 60 3 4945600

As a maker of jewelry, I will tell you that gemstones and turquoise
are not one and the same. Gemstones are diamonds, sapphires, rubies
and mined, cut stones generally. Turquoise is considered a
semi-precious stone, not a gemstone, and wholesalers who supply this
kind of stone bead are wholesalers who usually, not always, do not
also sell high-end 'gemstones' or cut gems. These are two distinct
and separate types of suppliers.

I am asking for the specific address of wholesalers who supply
polished turquoise nuggets and stone beads, not gemstone suppliers. A
jewelry fair will usually not offer this type of semi-precious stone
bead.

This is a question that only someone in the trade who imports this
currently very popular type of stone nugget / bead can answer
correctly by giving the name(s) of his/her suppliers.

At this point, the only advice I can give you is to call or write to
some of the sources listed above. You might be surprised that some of
them do sell wholesale turquoise. At the very least, one or more of
them may be able to put you in touch with the sort of supplier you
seek.
And please don't be discouraged by the fact that some of the firms
listed above deal in "gems." Turquoise is semi-precious, but it is
commonly referred to as a "gem" or "gemstone."
Google searches reveal thousands of web sites that characterize
turquoise as a gem or gemstone.
Try:
or
://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&client=googlet&q=turquoise+gemstone&btnG=Google+Search

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ONLY SUPPLIER LISTED ON THE MALAYSIATRADEPOST
SITE ALREADY REFERRED TO IN THE FIRST PERSON'S ANSWER DOES NOT SELL
POLISHED TURQUOISE SEMI-PRECIOUS STONE NUGGETS -- I ALREADY CONTACTED
THEM. THESE SEMI-PRECIOUS STONES ARE NUGGETS OF 20-25 CM VERY POPULAR
NOW TO MAKE LARGE CHOKER NECKLACES - THESE ARE NOT 'GEMSTONES'. THEY
ARE NOT FACETED, CUT STONES TO SET IN JEWELRY. ALL THE LISTINGS SO
FAR ARE RETAILERS AND SUPPLIERS OF SMALL, CUT GEMSTONES.

JEWELLERYNETASIA ANSWERED ME THAT THEY ARE ONLY FOR ASIAN BUSINESSES
AND DO NOT DEAL WITH SMALL RETAIL BUSINESSES IN THE US. THEY DID NOT
ACCEPT MY APPLICATION.
