I need to know whether others once-a-day products like ZYDOL XL
(marketed by Pharmacia) and Dromadol XL (marketed by IVAX), are on the
market (any country) or not. I am looking for neither twice daily
tramadol products, nor "standard" tramadol products (three or four
times a day), but ONCE-A-DAY tramadol products, like ZYDOL XL and
DROMADOL XL, which are both currently on the market in the UK.

maybe "controlled release", "extended release", "sustained release",
"long action" terms can be of help for the search.

Hi czh,
Well, yes. Now I could wait until tomorrow until this time (around 24
hs from now). But I would like to point out that I will accept as a
valid answer only the reference to once-daily tramadol product(s) on
the market (except in the UK), and not drugs or products which are
currently under development.
Said that, I would like to thank you for your effort, which I
appreciate very much.
Kind regards!

Hi, I was able to find another once-a-day tramadol product. It is
marketed in Spain by Zambon, under the name Zytram.
http://www.zambon.es/visita_vade/vademecum/vadem/zytram.htm
Thus, I will close the question.
Thank you very much to everyone who had a look to this question, and
tried to answer it.
Search strategy employed:
I found it using a kind of "chain search" strategy:
1) I used "once-daily tramadol" (the first result mentioned "Napp
Pharmaceuticals"
2)I searched using: Napp AND tramadol
3)In one of the results I found the word Zytram.
4)I used that name to find out that it is marketed in Spain, and
perhaps in Italy.

Regards,
Tom136

Hello tom136-ga,

I'm not posting this as an answer because I haven't had time to
research which of these products are the once-daily formulation, but
here's a table that shows you all the different names tramadol goes by
and the various drug companies associated with each name.

http://www.ic-network.com/glossary/glossarypain.html
You are here: IC Network > Drug Glossary > Pain Medications
Oral Medications - Pain Medications
Tramadol
Brand Name: Ultram
Manufacturer(s): Allegiance/Allscrips , Ortho McNeil Pharmaceuticals
Clinical Pharmacology: Opioid Analgesic - moderate to moderately
severe pain
Related Research & Web Sites: Drug Monograph
Possible Side Effects: Headache, dizziness, sleepiness. nausea
Availability in Other Countries:
Country -- Drug Name -- Manufacturer

I'll keep looking in hope that I can beat your deadline.

Good luck.

Dear cyh-ga: many thanks for the link. However, it does not answer
what I am looking for. I have already an extensive listing of
trademarks with tramadol products, but I would like to find others
tramadol once-a-day formulation currently on the market(apart from
ZYDOL XL and Dromadol XL, which are marketed in the UK). I know that
some formulations are being tested in the US, Europe and Japan, but
what I am looking for is another/others currently marketed once-a-day
tramadol products, in the world (except UK). The links seems not to be
updated for a long time.
Anyway, thanks again.

Hello again tom136-ga,

I took another look and reviewed the literature for tramadol products
under the following names: Adolonta , Nobligan, Tramal, Contramal,
Dolzam, Theradol, Tiparol, Topalgic, Tralgiol, Tramadolar, Tramagetic,
Tramake.

None of them come in the once-a-day version. As you already know, both
recent US and European trials have gone well and it’s anticipated that
the once-a-day tramadol products will be approved in 2003. I’m sorry I
couldn’t come up with anything.
