Sorry 888-ga. 

It seems that we have to pay in order to view the whole article. This
is the reason why I only posted it as a comment. The topic is quite
hard to research and maybe only available in journals which are not
for free.

I mght be wrong and hope that another researcher may come up with
something.

You will find an excellent view of these issues in Charles Handy's
book, "Understanding organizations".  You will find the chapter 'On
Roles and Interactions' very relevant.
