Hi iranic,
BlackBerry has 8 different handheld products, according to the
handheld product page on their web site:
http://www.blackberry.net/products/handhelds/index.shtml
They have a comparison chart showing all of the features of these 8
handheld products:
http://www.blackberry.net/products/handhelds/comparison.shtml
According to the chart, all of the products support wireless email,
but not all of them support the sending of SMS messages. The
following handhelds are the ones that can send SMS messages:
- BlackBerry 6750
- BlackBerry 6710
- BlackBerry 5810
Now if you have one of the other products, you can still send a SMS
message by using email. There are several companies that offer
services allowing you to do this; some of them will let you do it for
free, and others will let you do it for a fee. In addition, some of
these services are only available in certain countries. The way that
you send the SMS through email depends on the service that you use.
Here is a list of several free services, as well as some pay-to-use
ones:

If the person you want to send SMS messages to can receive ICQ SMS
messages, then you can follow these steps to send a SMS message
through email for free:

There are several other services available, and you can find more by
looking through my search results:

I hope this helps to answer your question.
