I would like to purchase health insurance (medical insurance) SOLELY
for my
care-giver's child. Is this possible? Can find no such
insurance--other than state/federal sponsored insurance for which my
care-giver is not qualified because her salary exceeds the limitation.
Would love to know if an option exists, either through an HMO or PPO.
Many thanks! |

There are definitely children-only policies offered by a few different
carriers. However, insurance offerings (including private insurance
plans) vary greatly by state. Could you tell us what state the child
lives in?
Thanks!

Virgina is the resident state; County of Fairfax, if that is a
consideration. Thanks again.

I should also say that the reason for including the child only is that
the mother has sickle cell anemia, and that the cost of covering her
would be prohibited. Her child does not have this condition.

I meant to say "prohibitive" - it's 3:30a.m. and my brain isn't working. Sorry!

A company called Unicare *seems* to offer child-only policies in
Virginia, but it's a little hard to be 100% sure from their website.
You may want to give them a call:

Your answer was right on the money! Many thanks--loked very hard
myself, but never saw this. I will consider this answer more than
acceptable, and the question "answered".
