Question ID: 169054
How do I prevent the splash screen when I log another computer on a
network by using, at the DOS PROMPT, the following batch file:
net use k: \\felisque\dos
A computer with Windows 95, 98 & 98SE. log invisibly (without a
windows splash screen showing the content of "felisque\dos" directory
but my Windows ME does splash.
I'm asking the question because I know it is possible to prevent it,
but I dont know how to configure Windows ME not to show this windows
splash screen
Thank you

Hi felisque-ga,

By splash screen, you mean the login prompt? If so, in WinXP at least
you can specify a username/password along with the NET USE command.
I'm not sure if this'll work in WinME since I don't have any computers
that run it. Try this though and let me know if it works:

NET USE k: \\felisque\dos thepassword /user:username

OR if you're connecting to a NT-based machine (NT4,2K or XP), use:

NET USE k: \\felisque\dos thepassword /user:computername\username

What I mean by splash screen is the screen that pops-up immediately
after you click "Map Network Drive".
That splash screen shows the directory of the mapped network drive.
I previous version of Windows (95 & 98 ), there is no such splash
screen.
Thanks again
