I have videos of conferences that I give. There are actually 16
different ones. I have a Super VHS- VCR. What other cards, equipment,
software and /or know how do I need to get a 30-50 second clip of each
of my 16 conference videos on my web site?

I have a web master who does most of my updates like new books, text
uploading,
adding pictures and buttons in the main menu, etc.

Since he lives (physically FAR AWAY from me, I would need to do
something here, so he could do the rest. What do I do and need to do
it with?

It's easy to capture video into files you can upload to your computer.

The first step is to get some video capture hardware for your
computer. AverMedia, ATI, and Happauge, and Pinnacle are well-known
makers of this kind of equipment. I've personally used the ATI TV
Wonder VE. (Not only can you import from your VCR, but you get a TV
tuner on your computer!). All you really need to look for is a video
capture device with composite input.

The second step is to get a composite cable to connect your vcr to
your computer.

Then, you need some software to capture the video. Most video capture
hardware comes with the right software. Windows XP comes with Windows
Movie Maker, use it instead if you can. Once it's captured, you can
use Windows Media Encoder to encode it to the right size of file.

samrolken--- If it is not too much trouble, can you give me any ball
park prices on the stuff you used and the others you mentioned?

Don't spend a lot of time. Just an idea. Thanks. John

I have bought TV Tuner cards from ATI and AverMedia for about $50.00.
It may be easier for you to seek out a USB product, like some made by
Hauppauge. They are also available for $50.00.

A great tool offered by Google for finding products, and their prices
is Froogle. You can search by price range, compare products, and all
kinds of things.
