The detrimental effects of pollution, acid rain, human contact and
aging through wind and rain on limestone structures is huge.
First, is there any official estimate of global cost of repairing
limestone buildings and statues worldwide? ( I would settle for stats
on USA or Europe).
Second, are there any individual repair/ preservation costings on
limestone buildings like the Empire State Building or or the Capitol
Building or The Parthenon, The Sphinx or famous cathedrals or statues?
I want to define the $size of the Market and secondly I would like a
budget for one important limestone building/heritage structure
restoration.

This paper may answer some of your questions:

http://www.nav.uni-stuttgart.de/German/Forschung/CriticalLoads/stockholm_proceedings1.pdf.

It maps corrosion rates in Germany for various materials, including
limestone, and calculates the costs of corrosion (the paper is in
English).

I haven't found similar studies in other areas that are specific to
limestone, but I'm still looking.
