First I will need more information (e.g. how many computers in the
Marketing Dept., what is the budget etc.) but I will try and answer
under your terms:
a. Windows 2000 Professional
b. Very good capabilities for high-end workstations (because of the
heavy graphic environment you can take advantage of the SMP (symetric
multi processing) by installing/buying dual-processor computers (Adobe
Photoshop is optimized for SMP for example);support for up to 2GB of
RAM; very stable and fast in a controled environment (you have good IT
Dept.).
c. It comes with support for scanners and digital cameras; any major
hardware or software manufacturers have drivers and support for Win
2000 Pro.
d. In my opinion Unix is way to expensive. The battle: Windows vs
Linux. The operating systems by themselves costs: Windows &319 USD
(aprox) - Linux:$149.95 (RedHat). The fun part starts: with Microsoft
you will get serious support included in the price with Linux the
cheapest type of support, a ONE installing incident by phone is
$39.95. Of course you will have to pay some more for licensing to
Microsoft but overall the Windows path is cheaper by 10-20%.
e. Just two examples: first Windows specialists are a lot cheaper and
easy to find than Linux specialists (it may change in a few years) and
second a huge difference in software available.
P.S. If you need more just let me know.

Hey, jjmatrix-ga...if they are doing mostly imaging stuff, shouldn't
they be on a Mac-oriented system. Just my opinion...
