Hello paulaedgerton-ga,
The song you are thinking of, I believe, contains the lyrics:
"It's gonna take a miracle
Yes, it's gonna take a miracle
To make me love someone new
Cause I'm crazy for you"
I can see why you thought it was Smokey Robinson & The Miracles,
because of Smokey's high voice, or Little Anthony & The Imperials,
because the same songwriters wrote at least one hit for them ("Goin'
Out of My Head"), plus the sometimes high voice.
But it was in fact a girl group, The Royalettes, who had a hit with
"It's Gonna Take a Miracle" in 1965. Later, Deniece Williams covered
the song and had a hit with it in 1982.
