I Have changed my search engine from Yahoo to Google but I cannot 
get the Yahoo background off my screen, how do i do this?

When you refer to background, do you mean your desktop image?

May I also ask if you are referring to the Yahoo Companion and Google
Toolbar installed in your browser.

Hello:
  I supose you are referring to Active Desktop and you have setup
Yahoo as your desktop background, if this is the case, you just need
to edit the properties of the desktop and disable Active Desktop or
change its settings to show Google now. I will provide more
information after you answer the clarification request.

Depending on which version of IE you're using... try editing the
registry key "hkey_current_user\\Software\\Microsoft\\Internet
Explorer\\Toolbar" The key you're after should be along the lines of
'backbitmap' or 'backbitmapshell'. In any case it's value might
contain the word yahoo somewhere in it. Just delete it and the
background will be restored to the default grey.
