Hello. According the U.S. Department of Energy's "Analysis: Amount of Floorspace in Manufacturing Establishments," the total enclosed floorspace of manufacturing space in 1998 was 12,836 million square feet (or 12.836 billion square feet, if you prefer to state the figure in billions).
