Hi! Should the service be in the US only or since it is in the
internet, websites from other countries would do as well?

Just let me know. :)

Hello again, Heif

{gobble, gobble} That's me eating my words about there being *lots*
more physician communities out there. There isn't. The concern for
patient privacy is such that most of discussion groups are maintained
through secure password-protected listservers. As a patient, I found
that very comforting and this exercise enlightening.

The Cybear or Physicians Online community that I mentioned previously
seems to be the largest and probably the most active. Here are
additional ones I found after *much* digging. Several are for
specialty practices but I've included them in case they may be of use
to you.

American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine

AssociaMed

The European Union of General Practitioners Mailing Lists

OB-GYN Net

MD Forum (looks to still be in beta)

Medical Crossfire

Society of General Internal Medicine

American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons

Society of Rural Physicians of Canada

FDA M.D. SIGs

Thanks very much for your interesting question. I would also suggest
contacting the very nice folks at MD Express and DocMD, which are both
physican-founded websites. Hopefully, they will have additional
resource ideas.

Two more lists of medical sites:

I wish there were more physician support communities available, but I
hope you find a group to your liking in the links I've provided.

Best of luck,
V

Hello,
One site that may be of interest is Medhelp International
(www.medhelp.org). Although it is tailored for patients, some of the
Q&A forums are staffed by physicians. For instance, the neurology and
cardiology forums are staffed by physicians from the Cleveland Clinic
Medical Center. Note that some of the forums are fee-based ($15-19
per question) and some limit the amount of questions asked per day.

Thanks,
Kevin, M.D.

You might try here: http://www.cybear.com. Researchers might try
using "peer-to-peer" "physicians." There should be lots more out
there.
