Hello again, Heif {gobble, gobble} That's me eating my words about there being *lots* more physician communities out there. There isn't. The concern for patient privacy is such that most of discussion groups are maintained through secure password-protected listservers. As a patient, I found that very comforting and this exercise enlightening. The Cybear or Physicians Online community that I mentioned previously seems to be the largest and probably the most active. Here are additional ones I found after *much* digging. Several are for specialty practices but I've included them in case they may be of use to you. American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine http://www.acponline.org/public/news/index.html AssociaMed http://www.associamed.net/public/index.html The European Union of General Practitioners Mailing Lists http://www.uemo.org/links/links2.htm OB-GYN Net http://www.obgyn.net/english/forums/forums.asp MD Forum (looks to still be in beta) http://www.mdforum.com/register.cfm Medical Crossfire http://www.medicalcrossfire.com/medical_prof.html Society of General Internal Medicine http://www.sgim.org/interestgroup.cfm American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons http://www.aaos.org/wordhtml/services.htm Society of Rural Physicians of Canada http://www.srpc.ca/ruralmed.html FDA M.D. SIGs http://www.fda.com/fdamd/shared_interest_groups.htm Thanks very much for your interesting question. I would also suggest contacting the very nice folks at MD Express and DocMD, which are both physican-founded websites. Hopefully, they will have additional resource ideas. http://www.mdexpress.com http://docmd.com/allaboutdocmd Two more lists of medical sites: http://www.medlina.com/general_&_internal_medicine.htm http://www.parkpub.com/dr-web/dr-web-home.html I wish there were more physician support communities available, but I hope you find a group to your liking in the links I've provided. Best of luck, V |

Hello, One site that may be of interest is Medhelp International (www.medhelp.org). Although it is tailored for patients, some of the Q&A forums are staffed by physicians. For instance, the neurology and cardiology forums are staffed by physicians from the Cleveland Clinic Medical Center. Note that some of the forums are fee-based ($15-19 per question) and some limit the amount of questions asked per day. Thanks, Kevin, M.D. |

You might try here: http://www.cybear.com. Researchers might try using "peer-to-peer" "physicians." There should be lots more out there. |
