I ONLY WANT TO PURCHASE "NEW" window to regulator "MOUNTING CLIPS",
NOT THE ENTIRE "REGULATOR ASSEMBLY or electric motor"!!!
My question is as follows...
I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT 2 door, I had the power window motor
replaced at my local dealership few months ago while the car was under
warranty because it had gone out.
Now, the car is out of warranty and once again the window has stopped
working and is stuck in the down postion.
The dealer now wants $460.00 dollars to replace the "entire" window
regulator assembly and motor. Why you ask, because you can't just
purchase the regulator, you have to buy BOTH together, but they will
sell the motor seperate if you need it, ( I'll let you figure that one
out!)$$$$$$$
I have looked at the problem and it appears that 4 tiny white plastic
"clips" attach the window to the regulator wires have all broken at
the same time oddly enough (wire and pulley system regulator, not the
old style metal gear and track unit) which allows the window to ride
up and down on the "wire" that sits in the regulator track.
The rest of the regulator is in mint condition and has no other flaws
at all and functions otherwise prefectly!
I see no reason to replace the entire unit as a complete assembly
given the new electric motor and the fine working condition of the
regulator assembly (THE GOOD OL AMERICAN WAY, MAKE IT CHEAP SO IT
BREAKS AND CHARGE THEM AN ARM AND LEG FOR THE WHOLE THING TO BE
REPLACED). GEEZ!
This car has 32,000 miles on it.
I can tell you the entire regulator assmbly was manufactured in
MEXICO.( another problem)
There are two numbers on the tiny metal bracket that attaches one of
the plastic clips to the window proper, both are stamped into the
metal 117091102 and under that one is another number 35792
there are two numbers on the regulator to electric motor mounting
plate on the regulator assembly as well, 36591 and under that number
is another 117103 100
I can find no numbers on teh clips themselves.
Basically these four clips, two per each side of the window ( front
and rear of window proper on the bottom )simply clip inside each
other, one end of the now joined pieces attaches simply to a wire
cable that makes the glass go up and down the other end simply clips
onto a tiny bracket that has one single bolt secures the tiny bracket
to the glass.(easy enough eh?)
I'm sure there is a large "bin" of these plastic clips somewhere!
5 bucks of plastic for $100 dollars, what a bargin!
I will glady send you an additional $50 if you can provide me with the
"answer" I'm looking for, not just the regulator assembly or motor
replacement but "just where I can purchase the plastic clips new and I
wasn't looking to buy in bulk" just a few sets of them.
If you find this to be to difficult please just cancel this question
and let me know without billing me, otherwise GOOD LUCK!!!

I tried to provide as much information as I can think of and tried to
present this as clearly as I possibly can in text form.
