Hello fbg-ga,

Thank you for your question.

The Home Price Check is used to find home sales records.

Home Price Check
Wall Street Journal guide to Property
http://dowjones.homepricecheck.com

Single House Search - Find the previous sale price of a particular
house.
Example: "Find the previous sale price of 1234 Maple St. Unit A."
http://dowjones.homepricecheck.com/search.jsp?criteria=property

To find other home sales records, just pick one of the search types
below:

Street Search - View the sales of homes on a specific street for a
range of addresses.
Example: "Find the previous sale prices of all homes from 1100 to 1200
Maple Street."
http://dowjones.homepricecheck.com/search.jsp?criteria=street

Price Range Search - Compare all homes sold within a certain price
range in one location.
Example: "Find all homes in Santa Clara, California sold between
$200,000 and $210,000."
http://dowjones.homepricecheck.com/search.jsp?criteria=price

Here’s a description of Home Price Check:

“Check out Home Price Check. There you'll find a database of over 20
million U.S. home purchase prices. You can search by location -- just
type in the address of that house you're interested in, and it will
pull the price history of that house (or co-op or condo) since 1990.
You can also find out the selling price for all homes that sold on a
specific street. In addition, you can search for all the homes that
sold within a price range in a given city. This will help give you a
good idea of recent housing prices in your area.”

Real Estate ABC also has a Home Price Check
http://realestateabc.homepricecheck.com/

Single House Search - Find the previous sale price of a particular
house.

There is a Home Price Check at American Mortgage Online.
http://amo-mortgage.homepricecheck.com/

Single House Search - Find the previous sale price of a particular
house.
http://amo-mortgage.homepricecheck.com/search.jsp?criteria=property

Dakota County Real Estate also provides the last sale price of a
property.

“The Dakota County Internet Real Estate Inquiry provides online access
to geographic and tax record information maintained by Dakota County
for individual parcels of property.

The information found may include items such as property address,
estimated market value, current taxes, last sale price, assessment
category, building details or year built. This information is a
compilation of records, information and data located in various city,
county, and state offices and other sources.”

Hello Bobbie7-ga,

Sorry to say that neither "http://dowjones.homepricecheck.com" or its
derivatives, nor
"http://www.co.dakota.mn.us/assessor/real_estate_inquiry.htm" provide
me with the answer to my question. Yes, "homepricecheck" will tell me
home sale prices, but the latest that I can get at this date is for
only November 2002, none more recent. I did ask for "February 2003."

Trust me, I am not as angry as my wording may appear! I just hope
that you can come up with how to find the sale price of a house sold
at a
specific address in February 2003.

Thanks!

Hello again Fbg,

After doing more research I was not able to find another Home Price
Check that is more authoritative than the Dakota County Assessing
Services. Given that Burnsville is in Dakota County I sent them the
following e-mail inquiry regarding the sale price of a home in
Burnsville.

E-mail assessing.services@co.dakota.mn.us

“Hello,
Is it possible to find the sale price of a house sold
at a specific address in Burnsville in February 2003.
Thanks in advance.”

Gloria the Manager of Assessing Services responded almost inmediately:

“Hello,

You should be able to find that information on our website,

To access our web site for sale information -- go to
www.co.dakota.mn.us
click on 'departments'
under Assessing Services click on 'Real Estate Inquiry'
click 'start'
in the PIN box enter the parcel ID number (02 64100 010 01 will get
you started) OR use the HOUSE NUMBER choice (do not enter entire
address, just number)
click 'go'
a map will be displayed for the selected lot
in the upper right-hand corner is a drop-down box that will say
'standard' - if you click that area and select 'sales', all the sales
in the area will appear in a different color
in the center portion of the real estate screen is another drop down
box, select 'identify' and click on each sale you're interested in and
the map for that parcel will be displayed
if you click on 'details' beneath the map, additional information will
be displayed - including the sale information.
Good luck. Please let me know if you have a problem finding the
information you want.
Gloria
Manager, Assessing Services”

There is a detailed explanation here as well.
http://www.co.dakota.mn.us/assessor/inquiry_help.htm

Dakota County Real Estate Inquiry was last updated February 19, 2003.

If the information you seek is not available I would suggest that you
get in touch with the County Assessor:

William H. (Bill) Peterson, County Assessor
Dakota County Administration Building
1590 Highway 55
Hastings, MN 55033-2372
Phone: 651-438-4200 or 1-800-247-1056 (non-metro)
Email: assessing.services@co.dakota.mn.us

Dakota County Contact Information
http://www.co.dakota.mn.us/Assessor/contact.htm

In your question you stated “I know that there is a public listing of
such, but I cannot find it for the life of me,” this should be the
public listing you’re referring to as the Dakota County Assessing
Service keeps the most up-to-date records available regarding
property sales and prices.

I hope this is what you're looking for and if it isn't, please let me
know before rating my answer and I will do the best I can to assist
you further.

Thanks,
Boobie7-ga

Hi,

I sent another e-mail to Gloria:

"Dear Gloria,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I was wondering if this is up to date - for example for a sale of a
home in February of this year.(2003)?
Thanks again.
I really appreciate your help."

Gloria replied:

"Hi,
It depends on the date the deed was recorded.
I believe deed filings/recordings are about 5-6 weeks behind (due to
the high volume) so if it hasn't made it through our real estate
processing system yet it wouldn't be on our web site. We update our
site with real estate information each weekend. When our
Treasurer/Auditor and Recorder complete the recording process it will
appear on the web the following weekend.
Gloria"

I sincerely hope my answer is satisfactory for you and if you have any
doubts please let me know in order to assist you further.

Thanks again,
Bobbie7-ga

Did you ever find out how much the home sold for? I'm a REALTOR in
MN, and I could try looking it up for you if I knew the address...
