UK broadband access had more than doubled since the start of 2002, per
ZDNet, from 332,000 to 709,000 and that significant broadband growth
remained, as these totals were only six percent of UK home Internet
users---this implies that the UK has approximately 12 million
households compared to 107 million households in the US.

I need a forecast of UK broadband penetration(next 3 to 5 years) and

Hello Chelsea,

It’s nice to see you again.

I gathered forecast information on broadband penetration in the UK
from a number of sources.

*****************************
Present - UK Broadband Access
*****************************

In an article dated January 29, 2003 - Popularity of broadband in UK
steadily rising:

“84 per cent of UK internet customers are now aware of broadband
services and the benefits they can offer compared to just over 50 per
cent in February, 2002.

Take-up of new broadband subscriptions has now risen to almost 30,000
per week, and the UK now has over 1.4 million broadband users. (..)
One in ten of UK homes with Internet access use broadband services.”

“The UK's broadband market is booming, with an estimated 34,000 new
customers signing up for a high-speed Internet connection each week.
Just a month ago, reports put the rate at 20,000 new connections a
week.

There are now over 1.1 million broadband users in the UK -- a far cry
from the start of 2002 when there were just over 300,000. Britain hit
the one million broadband user mark at the start of October.

The figures also confirm comments made by the Organization for
Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) last month, which reported
that broadband growth in the UK is faster than in France, Germany and
Italy.”
