I wish to find an on-line sales source for Quantz's Horn Concerto #9
in E-flat (maybe that was a misprint and it is #3 but capradio.org's
schedule of what I heard said it was #9--Mar. 5 at 6:20AM), played by
Barry Tuckwell. There was a recording: LONDON 917406 (or 417406?).
Directed by Iona Brown. I can't find it at Arkivmusic, Amazon, Barnes
and Noble, or PRMS.org. In fact I can't find ANY recording by Barry
Tuckwell of this or any other Quantz concerto. The most I have found
is a review which refers to Tuckwell on an album supposedly entitled
Baroque Horn Concertos, but I can't find that either.

The catalogue # is 417406 (not 917406) and it is Horn Concerto #3 (not
#9) and it is by Academy St. Martin in the Fields . No new sources
for this info; I just had not referred to all my notes when I wrote
you the question.

I managed to track down that the record company is Decca

Quantz Horn Concerto No.3 in E flat - Barry Tuckwell, fh; Academy of
St Martin in the Fields/Iona Brown. Decca 417 406
http://www.abc.net.au/classic/daily/stories/s433757.htm

The complete CD features:
BAROQUE HORN CONCERTOS - BARRY TUCKWELL. London 417 406-2.
		GRAUN: Concerto in D major.
		KNECHTL: Concerto in D major.
JOHANN JOACHIM QUANTZ: Concerto No.3 in E flat major.
Concerto No.9 in E flat major.
REINHARDT: Concerto in E flat major.
JOHANN GEORG ROLLIG: Concerto No.14 in E flat major.
		      Concerto No.15 in D major.

However, the CD is no longer featured in the catalogue on the Decca
web site: http://www.deccaclassics.com/

The item is listed but not for sale at this university library:

http://www.lib.cwu.edu/music/discographies/horns.html

A German source for buying the LP version is here:

http://nobis.njl.dk/is/WBIB/full-sh.asp?base=&fn=07558198

But alas, like yourself, I could find no source of the CD, assuming
there is one. I think it’s probably out there, but I tried about 20
sources without finding a hit. Note that London is the British Decca
group, which was bought out by Universal, so tracking it through the
label itself is tricky.

It seems to be a highly regarded, if esoteric, recording. Good luck!

Please note that the "German" reference given by lmnop-ga is actually
to Det Nordjyske Landsbibliotek, namely the Regional Library of
Northern Jutland, in Aalborg, Denmark
http://www.njl.dk/english/about.htm The price quoted refers to the
payment required if a registered library user wishes to reserve this
item for loan.
