Question ID: 172368
I want to travel on a ship from Florida to Brazil, transporting a
container with us. Therefore, I need a ship that carries both freight
and passengers.

Leave from Florida, the ideal would be Tampa/St Petersburg, but will
consider other ports.

Destination: ideal would be Forteleza or Recife, but would also
consider other ports: Belem, Salvador or Rio or Santos.

Please provide the names and phone numbers of the lines that provide
this service so I can contact them.

Thank you.

We are moving down, and would prefer to go with our things than to
send them separately.

Standard containers are 20x8x8 or 40x8x8.
TEU is 20 foot equivalent and FEU is 40.
I lived and worked in SP and Rio. Guessing
you are moving to Natal. Never been, but
went to Fortaleza once. Depending on
where you are moving to, the issue of where
your container lands should be considered.
Getting your stuff from Rio to the northeast
could be expensive and dangerous.
My neighbor is a Pernambucano, said it
is very nice if you are moving to Recife.

yes - we are moving to Natal. Have an apartment and love it there.
No question but that the ideal would be Forteleza or Recife.
Thanks for the size info... I was needing that.
When were you in Rio and SP and what were you doing? I lived for many
years in Belo Horizonte.
Tell your neighbor we have good friends who live in Recife.

I worked in management consulting. Got the pleasure
of working on a project in Volta Redonda - Brasil's jewel!

Driving from Rio to Belo Horizonte, I remember the sign that pointed
to Volta Redonda... but have never been there.
Exactly where is it? and Petrópolis and Terezópolis are beautiful...
is Volta Redonda also in the mountains?

VR, as it is unaffectioately called, is on the Dutra
between Sao Paulo and Rio, next to Barra Mansa.
Don't go, it is one of the least popular places in
Brazil. The home of their giant steeel mill.

Now it clicks! I remember... and understand your remark about the
"jewel of Brasil"....
You'll have to visit Natal - and see a real jewel!
