Question ID: 172585
I need a list of at least five non-food retail websites in MEXICO.
They must be B2C sites (so not Ebay, not clasifieds, not shopping
comparison sites, although the latter can lead you to appropriate
sites). They must TRANSACT ONLINE (ie not a site that shows products
but doesnt let you buy). The top sites may be foreign (Amazon is the
best example) but I dont just want a list of US sites.

- Comments. A one or two sentence salient summary of relevant points
about the retailer (more than the site). This is also
a good place to say why this is a leading site and to highlight online
revenues and/or number of online customers for the retailers if
available at all.

2. I also need a list of the five leading FOOD retail websites (again
they must sell grocery online). Same as above.

If as you are searching, you come across any additional data on size
of online shopping in the country, online population, etc, please post
as additional URLs with no need for explanation.

Thank you

Hello!!!

I found more info to add to the answer:

"Mexico's Online Population" by Michael Pastore:
"According to a report from eMarketer, 2.2 percent of the Mexican
population, or 1.5 million people, have access to the Internet.
This figure is set to grow to 8.6 percent (6.4 million people) by
2004, thanks to improvements in the telecommunications infrastructure
and new finance plans, which will make cheap PCs and Internet access
available to home and small business users.
Young Mexicans make up the majority of the online population,
according to NetValue. It has found that 67 percent of wired Mexicans
are aged 34 and younger, while 37 percent are between 15 and 24.
The majority of Mexicans use a fixed phone line and modem to get
online and the growth of the wireless Internet is likely to be slow.
Currently 74 percent of Mexican mobile phones are connected to analog
systems, which means they cannot support Internet access. It is
predicted that there will be just 130,000 wireless Internet users in
Mexico by the middle of 2001.

From the ITU:
"Internet indicators: Hosts, Users and Number of PCs 2001" (pdf
format):

From Opinamos.com (in spanish): Statistics about internet usage and
ecommerce in Mexico;

I think that this aditional info may be useful to you.
