I am looking for the contact info/pricing for the fantasy artist that
www.ige.com uses. It is very high quality art work that looks as if it
came from Dungeons & Dragons or Lord of the Rings. I would like to use
the art on my site so I would like details on how I can purchase or
license it.

Hello deklar:

I was unable to determine the artist's name from searching and other
techniques. I have sent out a couple of email enquiries and will let
you know what I find out as soon as I get any response.

Thanks for you patience.

hi deklar,
Lovely question! I love fantasy art, and I knew i had seen this
artwork before, though i was not sure of the artist's name. I believe
the artist you are interested in is "Rodney Matthews". The picture
next to "NEWS" is called "Sanctuary" and Rodney Matthews is the
artist. I have browsed some of the other pages on this site and can
confirm that there are other pictures also by Rodney Matthews. You can
see this picture (Sanctuary), and rest of his artwork on his website :
http://www.rodneymatthews.com/posters.htm

On his "contact" page, you will find relevant contact details. It
reads as follows:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Contact (For business contact only).
For enquiries regarding film, animation, computer game conceptual
design and intellectual property rights, contact:
Doug King (USA)   e-mail: doug.king@rodneymatthews.com
For all other enquiries including merchandise licensing and
commissioning of artwork, contact:
Bob Moon (UK)   e-mail: bob.moon@rodneymatthews.com
http://www.rodneymatthews.com/contact.htm
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I believe the picture of "Stonehenge", and the woman in the left
corner may have been done by another artist, but I am confident that
Rodney Matthews is the artist you are interested in. If you would also
like me to indentify the other pieces, please request clarification,
and I will look into it for you. Thank you for question. JB

Hello deklar,

I spoke to someone who works on the site ? this is what they said:
"I believe our art has been taken from various copyrighted fantasy
artists of different origins, including novels and such. None of it is
original IGE art... ?I have noticed one or two from the Dragonlance
saga. I can't seem to remember the artist though. I dont think there
was really any method to choosing it, just browsing the net and such."

Well, I found this book on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0786911816/104-9831088-3274358?vi=glance

It's called "The Art of the Dragonlance Saga" and a customer there who
has bought the book comments: "For Dragonlance afficionados, or those
who appreciated classic art by Easley, Caldwell, Parkinson, Elmore,
and more, this is the ideal collection." The person I chatted to from
the IGE site also mentioned Larry Elmore - so he is a fair bet.

You might find useful information by searching on these artists' names
with Google image search. For example:

http://images.google.com/images?q=artwork+elmore

http://images.google.com/images?q=dragon+easley

http://images.google.com/images?q=fantasy+caldwell

..you get the idea.

So you see, since the art comes from lots of artists, it would be hard
to answer your question fairly. Perhaps if you have a specific image
or two in mind you could say which ones and we can have a go at
tracking down contact information for the copywrite holder(s).

Hope this helps!
