I am seeking other language versions (in addition to French-
previously supplied Question ID: 169175 ) of 'War' recorded in English
(1970) by Edwin Starr. My preference would be for (but not limited to)
versions in German, Spanish, Japanese & Russian. Please provide
details of authors. A generous tip for translations in MP3. Thanks for
taking on this research.

Dear uzzz,

My research has not revealed the existance of any versions of "War"
recorded in languages other than English.
However, I could do a German translation of the lyrics for you (I
don't think you would find a Researcher who'd be able to deliver
translations in all four languages).
If you would like me to translate "War" into German, please let me
know if it should under all circumstances keep measure etc. so it
could be theoretically used for singing. This would require changing
many things in the text since literal translations of lyrics are
almost impossible. Or would you prefer a translation independent from
such requirements, which would be much closer to the original?

Regards,
Scriptor

Hello scriptor-ga

Thank you for looking into this question. Did you read the reply to
question 169175? I would appreciate a German version keeping measure
etc. to be used for singing. The lyrics are being used by a young band
(average age 18) and they wish to do as many different language
versions as possible. Naturally, literal translations will not work-
although they would be very funny (lol)! Are you a musically inclined
German speaking Researcher?

uzzz --

It's me again. After some more research, I have only been able to
come up with an Italian translation so far (which you haven't asked
for specifically). The link I could provide also includes the name
and contact information for the translator.

I will keep trying, but it now seems likely that most, if not all, of
the other versions you requested may have to be translated
specifically for you.

Based on your pricing decision regarding the previous question I
answered for you, you may to post separate questions for each version
you seek and price them accordingly.

Since I can't provide a complete answer to this multi-part question
(Japanese and Russian aren't going to be easy for anyone), you may
want to post a separate question to my attention if you are interested
in the Italian version.

Dear uzzz,

Yes, I am aware of the answer to your previous question. Also, German
is my native language, and though I am not an educated musician, I
have an acceptable feeling for measure. Would you like me to provide
the translation here, as an answer to this question? Or would you
prefer opening a new question, specifically addressed to me?

Scriptor

A brief note: Writing good German lyrics will take time and a notable
amount of work. Please do not misunderstand it as greed or the like;
but I would humbly ask you to set the price for such an assignment
with regards to the necessary creative effort.

Best regards,
Scriptor

Do you want the researchers to do the translating for you? I would
expect that would be the best way to obtain these lyrics in different
languages, since I doubt that this song was ever released in all those
languages.

Thank you magnesium-ga for your post. My 1st choice is for existing
translations as they probably also capture the nuances & intended
emphasis of the original lyrics. Should web research prove
unsuccessful I would appreciate Researcher translation.
