Hi portaco-ga,
This problem may be caused by a corrupt IE system file. To check
and repair this problem, try out the following steps:
-> Use the System File Checker tool to scan all of the protected
files on your computer:
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type: sfc /scannow and then click OK.
Note that you may be prompted for the Windows XP or Windows XP
Service Pack 1 installation media.
Check to see if your problem is solved. If not, try the next
step.

-> Try repairing your IE installation. Go to "Control Panel", then
"Add/Remove Programs". Select "Internet Explorer" and choose the
'Repair' option.
After setup finishes repairing your installation, see if your
problem is solved.

-> If IE6 does not appera in your 'Add/Remove programs' list, then
you will need to reinstall it using a roundabot method. See the Method
2 mentioned in this Microsoft KnowledgeBase article:
        - How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer in Windows XP
          ( http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378 )

Try out the above steps and see if they help.
If you need any clarifications, just ask!

Hi portaco,

If you are using Window 2000, get the latest Service Pack 3:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp3/default.asp

Let us know how that goes or if you are using something other than Windows 2000.

Thanks,
hummer

You haven't solved my problem and besides, I have Windows XP Home Edition.
There is an error in iexplore.exe! I gave you the instruction number and the
reference number. Once again, how do I fix it????

Portaco,

You may not be aware of how little information the error message
actually provides. The instruction number and reference are not
actually useful. The message really tells us nothing more than
"Internet Explorer crashed". It is likely that your combination of
versions of IE and XP Home hates something about the crossword puzzle
download page. In order to troubleshoot this effectively, we would
need to know what version of IE you have and where the crossword
puzzle is, so we can try the download.

I have also had this problem. I also use Windows XP Home Edition and
IE edition is 5.0. Everything was already installed when I bought the
computer. I still have not got the problem figured out and I was
trying to use it to study for classes on-line because one of my
classes has a student center for the class where you do crossword
puzzles, something like a jeopardy game (which does not work at home
either), true/false, fill in the blank, and multiple choice questions.
I even asked their help line and never got anywhere. my crossword
puzzle is on site www.mhhe.com/cit/uit5e/complete/clickalong. Let me
know if you can access this site. just go to the student center,
select any chapter, and click on the crossword puzzle. good luck
