for politicalguru:

Give me two german peace songs... Hint: one starts with "ein bisch" and
another starts with "99".

If you can think of any others that would be excellent as well.

Dear Esmit,

Thank you for your question, and I hope it is not to late to answer.

There are several beautiful German peace songs. The two you refer to
are:

"99 Luftballons" (99 baloons) by Nena . You could find the words here:
http://members.aol.com/Oxym0r0n99/nena.html (also an English
translation). This site
<http://www.mp3raid.com/search/dload/Nena%20%20%20-%20%20%2099%20Luftballons/http:,,,,194.148.8.31,,fheimi,,ballons.zip/>
offers an mp3 to download, by I do not vouch for the legal level.
Nena's own site offers it in streaming : http://www.20jahrenena.de/

"Ein bißchen Frieden" by Nicole (not *all* German singers have only
first name, only those who sing peace songs...). It was performed in
the Eurovision of 1982.
http://www.musiclinks.nl/songteksten/Nicole/10358.html - lyrics
You could download "Ein bißchen Frieden Teil II" (part II) from Guildo
Horn's fan club's site, and in his performance. For the sake of
honesty, I must reveal that this site is managed by a colleague of
mine, Till-ga.

Other songs were found in these sites:

http://www.kindermusical.de/frieden.htm - Children songs

http://www.zmeck.net/musik/friedenslieder.html - general songs.

http://www.rosalux.de/engl/articles/brecht/friedenslied.htm - Peace
song by the great Bertold Brecht

Other stuff:
Political poster (PDS - party of democratic socialism, ex-SED of East
Germany): http://www.pds-online.de/download/plakate/btw2002/frieden.jpg
"Peace demands courage, wars demand lives"
http://www.muenster.de/~k_vogler/Bilder/Frieden.gif - peace symbol
http://www.heute.t-online.de/ZDFheute/img/0,1369,9037,00.jpg - a demo
of the churches against the current war.
From the German Historical Museum:

- on the 50s peace movement

I hope that helped :0)

Thank you for the ratings and the tips. I know of some other top
Researchers in Google Answers besides myself ;-)

I am adding this as a clarification because I forgot to add a little
trivia regarding Nicole: she was the one and only German winner of the
Eurovision song contest (with this song in 1982), which is (the
contest) quiet an obsession in Germany.

Excellent, excellent!! Thank you for the additional information... 5

Not only did emsit-ga know the songs he was looking for, but he also
knew the Google researcher he was looking for. What chutzpah to answer
a question earmarked for another!

Cubist, what part of the title "for politicalguru" did you not
understand?
How would you feel if someone answers a question with "for cubist"
clearly written in the title of the question?

Cubist,

You may want to refer to the February 28th and March 5th editions of
the Researcher newsletter, specifically the sections labeled Editorial

I'm sure cubist-ga's faux pas was unintentional and he'll make amends soon.

...and the "Professional and Friendly" section of the RTM. You can
