I am intersested in the work of Loxley and Bines, Rhodes, Lewis, Alan Dyson, Charles Gains and Philip Garner. The publication 'SENCOs don't teach' is also of interest. Thanks Louise | |

Not to worry, Pinkfreud... you are a wonderful and dedicated researcher, despite the infrequent errant mouse click. The topic here seems to be that of Special Education/Special Needs classroom philosophy. But it would be most helpful if Louise (ciech-ga) described what would make the perfect answer for her question. For the sake of future clarity (once Pinkfreud's answer is removed), here is the clarification posted by Louise: "Specifically I am looking at the issue of incluison within secondary schools. All the names I have mentioned have written on the subject following the governemnt's code of practice for SEN in, I think, 1997. I am meant to compare their views with what currently happens in the establishment I teach in. I'm basically trying to compare my school policies with current thinking on the issue of SEN in general and inclusion in particular. "Hope this makes it clearer. "Louise" regards, mathtalk-ga |

Just in case the customer's clarification response is removed along with my nonanswer, I am reposting it here: Clarification by ciech-ga on 08 Mar 2003 11:25 PST Specifically I am looking at the issue of incluison within secondary schools. Hi, Louise (ciech-ga): When questions have a "deadline" (as in the case of your assignment), it is a good practice to provide this information so that researchers can be aware of the urgency. In your clarification you indicated that you are trying to compare the views of the named authors and others on inclusion and "SEN" practices generally with those where you currently teach. In hindsight I think you will see that our research can only address half of this "fact base" and perhaps not in a very satisfactorily targeted manner. For example, I might provide some material on the tension between inclusion of special needs students in the mainstream classroom population and the mandatory testing policies in many states (and espoused by the federal "No Child Left Behind" bill shepherded through by the current administration). Whether or not such materials would be relevant to your establishment, however, is unknown to me. In the face of such uncertainty I'm personally hesistant to expend a great deal of effort, and would not "post" such a tentative answer. You might well have been better served by a more aggressive approach on my part. If you are still interested in assistance with this assignment, please let me know your time limits and the required quality of an answer. regards, mathtalk-ga |
