Last year, I used a website I believe was called k7@k7.net. It was a free site and allowed me a phone number that anyone could fax to the number. The fax then was transfered to my e-mail. Does k7 still exist? If yes, how can I contact? Does Google have a similar service? I'm willing to pay subscription fees for the service. |

Hi there, K7 do still exist, and the service is amazingly still free. In fact it looks so good I've decided to use it myself. K7 http://www.k7.net If you have forgotten your password, they can send it to you: http://fusion.kallback.com/k7/pswd.cfm Google does not offer such a service, but there are plenty of other companies that do. A good listing of them can be found at Google Directory: http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Data_Communications/Unified_Messaging/Services/?il=1 Best wishes, robertskelton-ga |

If you're looking for a service that offers a local number, and don't anticipate receiving more than about 200 pages per month, after considerable shopping around last fall it was my determination that maxemail offered the best value in that usage range. My only criticism so far is that, if you receive faxes in PDF format, the files cause postscript errors on some printers. http://www.maxemail.com/ I had used eFax, which sends faxes in a proprietary format. The application for handling eFax faxes is pretty good, and if you have a full version of Acrobat you can also print them to an Acrobat file if you choose. However, they have relatively low limits on usage for their free accounts and, at least at that time, their paid accounts cost significantly more than those offered by MaxEmail. http://www.efax.com/ If you are going to advertise the fax number, it makes sense to determine the page limits associated with the account - particularly a free account - before you sign up. If you don't, you will either have to let your customer base know of a changed fax number, or sign up for a paid account which may not be price- or service-competitive in order to maintain the same number. |

There are scores of companies that provide such a service, in addition to the ones mentioned here. You can find an extensive list at http://www.faxbeep.com . |
