Hello Ziz,

I located the weight in grams of an average hamster brain but
unfortunately I was not able to find the same for a gerbil.

I located the brain weight for the following animals:

African giant pouched rat
Big brown bat
Chinchilla
Desert hedgehog
Eastern American mole
European hedgehog
Galago
Ground squirrel
Guinea pig
Lesser short-tailed shrew
Little brown bat
Mole rat
Mouse
Musk shrew
Rat
Slow loris
Star nosed mole
Tenrec
Tree shrew
Golden hamster

Would any of the above brain weights be useful for you?

Thanks
Bobbie7

Hello Ziz,

Here is a dataset where you may view brain weight and body weight in
62 mammals. The brain weight of the hamster and other small animals
are included.

In the dataset the second column is the body weight and the third
column is the brain weight.

Hi,

In response to Bobbie7-ga's question, it is critical for the research
I am doing to have either the brain measurement or mass of a gerbil.
I have a periodical title that may be of help. I haven't been able to
locate it locally. "The Stereotaxic Atlas of the Mongolian Gerbil
Brain," Loskota, WJ, Lomax, P., Verity, M.A. 1974. Ann Arbor
Science, Ann Arbor, MI

Thanks for all the help! Zizzi

Zizzi,

Perhaps this may help:

The brain museum provides whole brain photographs of Mongolian gerbils
and you may be able to calculate their measurements.

In addition I sent out a couple of e-mails inquiring about the weight
of a gerbil's brain. When (if) they respond, I will let you know.

Thanks

Hello ziz~

I am unable to give a complete answer, so I'm posting what I hope will
be helpful information for you in the "comments" section.

According to this site,

The brain mass of a hamster is 1 gram.

I was unable to find the brain mass of a gerbil online.

Hope this helps some!
