Question ID: 174446
I need some ideas on names for a software product. The product is
designed to help attorneys with legal research. The software will
allow attorneys to capture, organize and share cases, statutes,
articles and other products of their legal reasearch. The product
allows research to be captured from the web browser or converted from
a file and then organized in hierarchical trees. The sole audience for
this product will be the legal profession. The name needs to be catchy
and somewhat descriptive. At this point, we need brainstorming,
rather than narrowing. Any ideas?

"How will you select the Researcher to reward?"

That is a very good question. I may not have thought this through all
the way before I started with GA. But this is what I have decided to
do. If one of the names that a Researcher posts hits it right on the
head (ie, is the "one"), I will instruct that Researcher to answer and
collect the $. Although there are some very good and creative ideas
so far, I haven't found one that is exactly right. I will give it
another day or so, and if none of the names is the "one", I will
select the Researcher that provided the closest to what I had in mind
to do some additional thinking (with some more specific guidance from
me) as the Answer.

Thus, no one should provide an Answer until I post a clarification
asking a specific Researcher to Answer.

I hope this method it OK with all of you.

BTW, thank all of you for your wonderful input.

Keep the ideas coming.

The time is now. I don't want to be a bootsy. I must choose one (and
unfortuately, only one) of you fine researchers to reward. I
appreciate everyone's work and creativity. It is projects like this
where Google Answers really shines.

My braintrust and I have narrowed the field to five potential names
for the product:

     JurisTree
     TreeLegal
     Treegle
     LegaliTree
     LawCatcher

Google Answers was responsible for 1 1/2 of these names. In fact, one
researcher, taxmama-ga, was responsible for 1 1/2 of these names, so I
guess, taxmama-ga, is the clear winner.

We will likely choose from one of these five finalists, but it would
be great if you, taxamama-ga, in your answer to collect the prize,
would take one last stab. Now that you see where we are leaning, you
might come up with the golden egg. "Tree" is real big. In fact, the
hands down winner would be LegalTree if the .com was available, but it
is not. (LawTree.com is unavailable.) Any additional ideas (with
available .com) would be appreciated.

Thanks again to everyone. It was fun to read all the ideas. I
chuckled more than a few times. I think I need to develop more
software so I can use Bono Pro and LAWganizer and a bunch of the other
names.

Der Bruce,

This was very interesting. And your concept sounds like a great idea.
Clearly, you will find a market for it.

And if you like those two names you mentioned, it might be worth your
while to pick them up now, while they are available. You can point
them to the URL you end up with, until you're ready to take them live.
(It's cheap. About $15.00 through Dotster.com + $5.00 per year for the
forwarding. And YOU control what URL they point to. You don't need a
webmaster or anyone else to do it for you.)

Anyway, thank you for liking my ideas.
I loved reading all the others, too.

As it happens,I've been thinking and I DO have
the definitive name for you.

I really hope you're there right now, because the URL is available.

JurisTeam and

juristeam.com is not taken

(I really wanted TeamLaw - but someone has that URL already)

Omigoodness!

BarTree.com is also available.

Incidentally, statutetree.com is available.
The only reason I don't recommend it is - no one can ever
type statute properly...

If you want me to keep looking...say the word.

Please, do let us know the one you end up with.
I'd love to see your final product.

Best wishes.

"Lexwiz" springs to mind.

Maybe it's a bit trendoid, but it is catchy, I think.
