Question ID: 174511
I am ready to buy a Sony KF-60XBR800.
This is a 60 inch LCD television.

I am also ready to buy a Sony SU-GW1 stand.
This is a stand for the KF-60XBR800.

My question:
Is the SONY SU-GW1 stand, the most current stand for the Sony KF-60XBR800.

There seems to be a shortage of this stand.
Perhaps Sony is ready to come out with a newer stand?

Hello clicker5,

Thank you for your question.

I searched to see if any other "official" Sony stands were available
for this model.

Sony Style USA shows the SU-GW1 as the matching stand:
http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=KF60XBR800

Circuit City confirms:
http://www.circuitcity.com/frame1.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0843815630.1047363876@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccecadchkfmmkdgcfngcfkmdffhdffh.0&upper=head.jsp&lower=frame2.jsp&inleftcat=Electronics&right=detail.jsp&left=leftdept.jsp&oid=63955&carriage=d1018021231994000125_SON_KF60XBR800_df.img&com.broadvision.session.new=Yes&goTo=detail

As a amatter of fact, I found dozens of sites that show this as the
stand for both the 50" and 60" Grand Wega XBR800 series..

I imagine the terminology stands for Stand Unit - Grand Wega 1 or very
similar.

I even searched for SU-GW2, but found nothing. I searched Grand Wega
stand and only found the GW 1 model. In my experience, Sony does not
introduce a new stand until a new model display is introduced. The
bezel color of an updated model will often change, and the stand
design and color will change with it. I think we are very safe to
assume that this is the only "official" Sony model stand for this
display. A number of online stores claim to have this in stock, by the
way.

However, searching [sony +"grand wega" +stand -"su-gw1" ] I found
aftermarket models that might interest you:

http://www.epinions.com/Home_Furniture-Techcraft_GV101_Sony_Grand_Wega_Stand

Techcraft GV101 Sony Grand Wega Stand

And there appears to be an older model Sony stand called the SU-60DX
for the KF-60DX100:
http://www.noav.com/sony/sony_tv_grand_wega_projection.htm

This might possibly fit the newer model as well, if you like this
style better. I would be very surprised if it did not fit perfectly.

There are a number of manufacturers that also make generic stands that
will work for this Grand Wega since it is designed as a table top
model when not used with the matching stand, though none are
specifically designed for this model.

For example:

http://www.jonalexander.com/

http://www.homeaudiosuperstore.com/entertainment-furniture.htm

http://www.bigbangelectronics.com/audio_video_furniture/boltz.asp

http://www.marketware-tech.com/telstanandsw.html

And many more.
Search Strategy:

KF-60XBR800 +stand

sony +"grand wega" +stand -"su-gw1"

"grand wega" +stand -"su-gw1" -sony

I trust my research has confirmed that the SU-GW1 is the current model
for this TV and that there are several excellent alternatives should
you choose. If a link above should fail to work or anything require
further explanation or research, please do post a Request for
Clarification prior to rating the answer and closing the question and
I will be pleased to assist further.
