Hi emmalee:

Thanks for the interesting question.

While I was not able to find a comprehensive corporate art collections
listing specific to the Bay area, I did track down a CD product that
lists 1300 corporate art collections in the U.S. and abroad. This
would likely contain the information you seek.

However, the CD costs $109.95.

Are you interested in this as an answer?

Thanks.

Thank you for your quick response.

Yes, I do know about the CD product that you mentioned. I was trying
to avoid spending the money on it and thought that at least in San
Francisco there would be some sort of directory of corporations that
would could me with some preliminary information before I spent money
on the CD. I think McKesson Corporation has an art collection-could
you possibly find a couple of san Francisco corporations for me?

Hello emmalee-ga,

“Could you possibly find a couple of san Francisco corporations for
me?”

Yes, I’ve been able to find some San Francisco Bay Area corporate art
collections for you. My strategy was to look for articles that talked
about corporate art collections and then hope that they would mention
San Francisco collections. Following these trails I’ve found mentions
of about a dozen corporate collections that should be easy for you to
track down. Some companies are very open and high profile about their
corporate collections while others seem to prefer to be very low key
and could only be identified through the resumes and curriculum vitae
of artists whose works they exhibit. I’ve included links that will
give you leads that should help you connect with people who know about
the collecting habits of your target companies. I’ve also included
some of the more interesting general articles about corporate
collecting that I ran across in doing this search so you can see what
is going on in the field. Enjoy your explorations!

SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA CORPORATE ART COLLECTIONS

Bank of America
---------------
Nations Bank of Charlotte merged with Bank of America a few years ago
and kept the name but moved the headquarters to Charlotte, North
Carolina. Nevertheless I’ve included them at the top of the list
because the art collection is very famous and it was built by B of A
in California. They are still very active in the art world and you can
find lots of articles about this collection.

Suzy Locke, a corporate art advisor in San Francisco, whose clients
include Grubb and Ellis, and Kaiser Permanente, agrees that the focus
has subtly changed. She is working with a pharmaceutical company,
Yamanouchi Shaklee Pharma, which is building a collection that
directly relates to their corporate activity and their desire to build
links between California and Japan.

Pacific Bell (now SBC Communications Inc.)
------------------------------------------
Pacific Bell had a large corporate art collection. The company was
merged into SBC and its assets are now owned by the new corporate
entity.

October, I presented the mixed-media piece to Brian Lampkin, VP of
Adobe's graphics division. It's a great honor to have a piece of my
art on the walls of this great company. I'm hoping it ends up on the
