There is this song I heard many times on the radio, but not lately. I
am dying to get more information about the song, but I hardly remember
the words.
Here is what I remeber:
1. It's a male singer
2. The first line of the chorus goes something like: "because this
is your conscious" - it's especailly the word "conscious" I'm not sure
about, but it sound like it. I also think the words ends with an "ns"
more like "consciouns", though there is no word like that.
3. One of the verses starts something like: "you think my clothes are
sexy"

Anyhow, I want:
1. The singers name.
2. The songs name.
3. The songs lyrics.

Thanks for your help.

Hello Silverado,

The song you are most likely referring to is called “You’re Gorgeous”
by UK group Blue Bird. It was released on their album “Ugly
Beautiful” in October, 1996.

In fact, Blue Bird started off as one person: Steven Jones. With the
snowballing of their success, Jones eventually took on other band
members: “guitarist Luke Scott, bassist John Pedder, keyboardist Hugh
Chadbourne, and drummer Rob Gregory.” “Ugly Beautiful” was this
band’s first album, basically rerecordings of Jones’ original songs.

CDNow.com only has the vinyl LP, and is priced at $9.99. To quote
their review: “To have been in the U.K. during the past few months
and not have heard Baby Bird’s decadent, crooning ‘You're Gorgeous,’
you'd have had to be living under a sizable rock.”

Amazon.com currently only has used CD copies, and at last check there
were 13 listed for $3.99.

There is a Google groups thread concerning this song and also a
variety of webpages that provide the lyrics:

Babybird - YOU'RE GORGEOUS

(Y. O. U. R. E. G. O. R. G. E. O. U. S.)

Remember that tanktop you bought me
You wrote "you're gorgeous" on it
You took me to your rented motor car
And filmed me on the bonnet
You got me to hitch my knees up
And pulled my legs apart
You took an instamatic camera
And pulled my sleeves around my heart

(CHORUS:)
Because you're gorgeous
I'd do anything for you
Because you're gorgeous
I know you'll get me through

You said my clothes were sexy
You tore away my shirt
You rubbed an icecube on my chest
Snapped me till it hurt

(CHORUS)

You said I wasn't cheap
You paid me 20 pounds
You promised to put me in a magazine
On every table in every lounge

(CHORUS)

Because you're gorgeous
I'd do anything for you
Because you're gorgeous
I know you'll get me, know you'll get me through
Know you'll get me through
Know you'll get me through
Know you'll get me, know you'll get me through
I know you'll get me, know you'll get me
Know you'll get me through

(CHORUS)

Because you're gorgeous
I'd do anything for you
Because you're gorgeous
I know you'll get me, know you'll get me through
Know you'll get me through

There is also an excellent articles on “Blue Bird” from the
Declaration Online:
http://www.student.virginia.edu/~decweb/issue/1997/10/30/word/babybird.html

This should be the song you’re looking for (based on the lines you
remember, and the somewhat similar phonetics of “conscious” and
“gorgeous”). If not, please post any additional details you can
remember and I’ll be happy to clarify my answer.

Whoops, jeeagle-ga is correct, it's Babybird, not Blue Bird. I can't
even make up a good excuse for why I mistook it seeing as it's in
every URL I posted and right there on the lyrics. Hmmm...maybe spring
fever's gotten to me. =)
