I am looking for information on Welsh culture in the 10th century, in particular anything that would assist in recreation/reenactment of the period. This includes information on clothing, their art, fighting (armor/weapons/styles), literature, etc. | |

While this includes information about the British early Middle Ages in general, it also includes information about that era in Wales. Photos, culture, history and more. It may be a good place for you to start. http://www.regia.org/index.html - Regia Anglorum |

If there is a chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism in your area, you may be able to find someone who has a specialized interest in Welsh history of this period. SCA members tend to be very helpful, and some have acquired an impressive amount of knowledge about the historical periods in which they are interested. Here you can learn more about the SCA: http://www.sca.org/ |

Thanks to both of you. I'm familiar with the SCA (I'm a member, looking to develop/improve my persona), but have few people in my area who can help much with this topic. The Regia Anglorum site looks interesting - I will be checking it out more thoroughly in a bit. Thanks |

I'm new to this service - any good way to tell if a question is not going to get an answer, or if people would notice a price increase? |

Hi, Neep... You're probably correct in thinking that you've inadvertantly underpriced your question. The official pricing guide, found at http://answers.google.com/answers/pricing.html describes a $10-$15 dollar question as one which would normally buy about a half-hour of a researcher's time. Obviously, individual researchers may work for less if they're personally interested in your question...but several of our top talents have, by now, contented themselves with a quick look and perhaps a comment. For complex, multi-part questions, they recommend setting a price in the $50 range. That may be more than you're willing to spend for this information, of course...it's a two-way street. If you're prepared to spend more, though, you are more likely to attract the attention of the researcher pool. As for noticing a price increase? Most of us sort unanswered questions on several criteria, one of which is the last time there was activity on a given question. This comment, for example, will bump your question to the top of that list temporarily. So will changing the price. Many researchers will have seen your question; if the price changes we'll notice...believe me. Good luck, -Chromedome |

Thank you Chromedome - I hadn't seen that page. That does give a bit more insight into what is appropriate. Based on that, and what the info is worth to me, I will be bumping it up to my max (though I do believe in tipping - personally, I see a lot of advantages to it). Much appreciated (now, will $20 bucks be enough to get an answer :-] ?) |
