I am part of a percussion ensemble that is performing a musical piece that is based on a series of 12 adjacent hanging scrolls from the 17th century by Yuen Chian. We would like to see what the scrolls look like, so I was trying to find pictures of them. Program notes say the piece was inspired by a spectacular painting on 12 adjacent hanging scrolls by the 17th century painter, Yuan Chiang. The three movement work depicts scenes from the artwork. The first movement is "Procession of Emperor K'ang-hsi." The piece is called "The Palace of Nine Perfections" by Eric Ewazen. | |
