I have always backed up my Outlook 2000 info by copying the
outlook.pst file from my PC to my notebook. A couple of days ago,
while doing this, I got this error message: "cannot copy outlook: Data
error (cyclical redundancy check)". Since then, the outlook.pst file
on my notebook is missing and I cannot copy the outlook.pst file on my
PC (including to a backup folder on the PC). How can I correct this
problem and copy the outlook.pst file?

Hi sonker! A couple of questions, which will help myself or another
researcher...

What exact error message do you get when you try to copy your pst file
from one folder to another on your PC?

How were you copying the pst file to your notebook? Did you use a
floppy disk, network cable, or another method?

Thanks,

It sounds like the data file itself (the PST) is crupt. But all is
not lost - there is a program on your machine than can recover the
data - SCANPST.EXE

Thanks but I did as you suggested and the result was: "No errors were
found in this file" (outlook.pst). What now??
